The first full trailer for James Cameron’s “Avatar” sequel has been released, and nearly 13 years later, audiences are back on the planet Pandora.
The two-and-a-half-minute trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water introduces Jack and Neytiri Sully and their children, more than a decade after the events of the first film.
The new trailer takes viewers beneath the waves, which are filled with fantastic creatures like colorful jellyfish, whales, and giant fins.
Jack was seen teaching his daughter to hunt with a bow, and she told him: “Dad, you know I think I’m crazy, but I can feel her. I hear her heartbeat. She’s very close.”
He asked, “So what’s her heartbeat like?” Before she answered, “Powerful.”
The Na’vi native to Pandora are also seen re-fighting what appears to be human using advanced technology and weaponized “mecha suits”.
The highly anticipated sequel to the 2009 original has a cast that includes Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana, and will also see the return of Stephen Lang and Sigourney Weaver as Colonel Miles Quaritch.
Weaver, 73, played scientist Dr. Grace Augustine in the first film, but will play Kiri-Jack and Natiri’s adopted teenage daughter in the sequel, which hits UK cinemas on December 16.
Titanic and Mares of the East Side actress Kate Winslet joins the cast along with fellow newcomers Michelle Yeoh, Vin Diesel and Edie Falco.
The original sci-fi epic won three Oscars for its stunning visual effects, cinematography and art direction and grossed close to $3 billion (£2.6 billion).
Set in the year 2154, the movie sees humans inhabiting avatars so they can enter the planet Pandora.
