Fighting is ongoing in southern and eastern Ukraine, with authorities reporting more casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure on Monday.

Donetsk region

Some of the fiercest fighting continues in the Donetsk region. On Monday, the Ukrainian military said Russian forces were trying to advance on Lyman, Bakhmut and Avdivka.

At least one person was killed in the city of Krasnohorivka, said Pavlo Kirilenko, head of the Donetsk regional military administration.

Kherson region

The regional military administration said on Monday that Russian troops had opened fire in the area 42 times in the past 24 hours. “The enemy attacked civilian settlements in the area with artillery, multiple rocket launchers, mortars, tanks and infantry fighting vehicles,” it said.

At least three people were killed in Russian shelling in the city of Kherson on Sunday, and eight civilians were injured to varying degrees, the Regional Military Administration said.

Kharkov region

At least one person was killed and three others were wounded in the city of Kharkiv on Sunday, said Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.

He said initial investigations indicated the missile was fired from an S-300 air defense system.

“The missile hit a 4-storey residential building in the Kyivsky district,” Syniehubov said. “The upper floors and roof of the building were destroyed and a large fire broke out.”

Syniehubov added that Kupiansk, Vovchansk, Strilecha, Dvorichna and other towns came under enemy fire and destroyed private homes, shops and other buildings.

In Kupyansk, a 41-year-old man was wounded by enemy shelling, he said.

Zaporozhye region

Military authorities in the Zaporozhye region said on Monday that the situation remained relatively stable as Russian forces focused on controlling occupied territories in the region.

Regional police said Russian shelling damaged homes and buildings in different parts of the region.
