Spokane, Wash. – Monday, September. On January 26, a woman reported a sexual assault to the Spokane Police Department (SPD).
She told investigators she was attacked while walking her dog in the 100 block east of 1st Ave just after 1 a.m., according to the SPD. She said an unknown man approached her and started a letter, casual conversation, before attacking her by pinning her to the ground. During the attack, she fought to protect herself and injured the man, causing him to flee.
Detectives recorded and collected evidence consisting of descriptions of events and video footage of the area to identify suspects.
The SPD Special Victims Unit (SVU), which specializes in sexual assault cases, identified the suspect as 18-year-old Ethan Jake. A search warrant was served at his residence, where investigators found items linking him to the incident.
In conjunction with the Violent Crimes Task Force, SVU detectives took Jack into custody on September 18 without incident. 29. He was charged with second-degree rape and was sent to the Spokane County Jail on $100,000 bail.
The investigation is still ongoing.
