Body camera video released by police shows the moment a man attacked Nancy Pelosi’s husband with a hammer at their San Francisco home.
Police went to the front door and knocked repeatedly — and when it opened, Mr Pelosi was standing with the head of a hammer in his hand while the intruder was grabbing the handle and trying to pry the 82-year-old out of his hands.
Mr Pelosi refused to let go, but the suspect, David DePape, suddenly reined in himself and lunged at him with a weapon.
It was at this point that Sky News decided to stop recording.
Officers then rushed in, lunged at the attacker and pushed him face down to the ground, with Mr Pelosi lying motionless next to him.
The Oct. 28 attack knocked Pelosi unconscious and he later Had surgery to repair a fractured skull and a serious injury to his right arm and hand.
DePape has been charged with attempted kidnapping and assault, as well as attempted state charges
Murder, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, elder abuse, false imprisonment and threats against public officials.
Immigration officials previously said he was a Canadian citizen who entered the U.S. illegally after entering the country as a visitor.
