Spokane, Wash. —Two Spokane men have filed a lawsuit against the South Hills congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, saying they were molested by a church elder starting in the 1970s when they were 8 and 11 years old.
The lawsuit alleges that the church concealed the abuse and that elders were allowed to groom and sexually abuse children even after reporting the sexual harassment to church staff.
The two plaintiffs said they suffered physical and permanent psychological harm. They are seeking an undetermined amount and are asking for a jury trial.
A judge will hold a hearing on the case on November 11. April 4, 2022.
